This activity will end right where it started.Our pickup service starts at 8am near Nadi Airport and 9am from Denarau resorts for the 10am departure and 9.30am and 10.30am for the 11am departure. Tivua Island is the perfect day-trip destination in Fiji. Encircled by white-sand beaches and surrounded by coral reef, the pristine tropical island functions as a sea turtle sanctuary during nesting season.

After hotel pickup, step aboard the Ra Marama, a brigantine (two-masted sailing ship) built in 1957 and named after a 19th-century war canoe. Enjoy Fijian music by the entertaining crew and watch for dolphins playing in the bow wave as you’re served morning tea aboard the tall ship.

Upon arrival at Tivua Island, take part in a yaqona (kava) welcome ceremony. You can decide how to while away the hours: swim in the azure sea, stroll around the island, or sunbathe on the sandy shoreline. If you're feeling energetic, a selection of activities such as snorkeling, beach volleyball, reef fishing, and use of kayak, stand-up paddleboard, or canoe is included. Or perhaps set out for some coral viewing on a glass-bottom boat tour.

Dig into a buffet luncheon including barbecue chicken, whole baked fish, sausages, fresh salads, fruit and fresh-baked bread rolls accompanied by local beer, wine and soft drinks. Enjoy afternoon tea before the return sail to your starting point, with drop-off at your hotel by day's end.

Cruise, swim, explore and relax. Tivua Island is close enough to Nadi to be the perfect destination for an introduction to cruising the islands of Fiji. Set sail by tall ship to this pristine island, surrounded by 500 acres of spectacular coral reef. Tivua Island is a sanctuary for turtles during the nesting season, and is surrounded by a circle of white sandy beaches. Sailing aboard the brigantine Ra Marama or Topsail Schooner, Spirit of the Pacific, you will be able to sunbathe in the bowsprit, watch for dolphins playing in the bow wave and enjoy the music and entertainment as you cruise. This historic tall ship, named after a famous nineteenth century Fijian war canoe, was built for the Governor General of Fiji in 1957. "Spirit" was built as a training vessel for NZ youth and came to Fiji in 1998. Upon arrival at Tivua Island, soak up the natural atmosphere where you can swim in the tropical waters, explore the island or simply relax on the pristine sandy beaches. If you're feeling energetic, a selection of water activities such as snorkeling or the use of canoes is included. The experience was beyond expectation! From the hospitality of the staff to the beauty of the island, there was nothing I could fault. I loved going snorkelling and coming back to a beautiful meal prepared for us all. There were so many activities to do on the island too and so many lovely locals. My favourite was Chris who climbed a tree to get me a coconut. It was delicious! I could go on and on, so to summarise it was an amazing experience. I would definitely come back!

Bula James, thanks for the feedback. We do include morning and afternoon tea on the boat but we have a responsible approach to alcohol service and like to limit it to the island only for that reason. Our drinks are still available for purchase on the return sail.

The island was absolutely beautiful. The whole boat trip the staff were absolutely amazing with the kids. They showed them around the boat and were happy to help with anything. The kids had a ball snorkeling in the crystal clear water. The kids cabanas were perfect for our little ones to play in the shade. The lunch was a great mixture of foods and was delicious. The best part of the the day was the amazing views and experience followed closely by the staff and their friendly nature
