Vatican museum tour

Considering skip the line saves queuing there was a lot of hanging around prior to the start of the tour. As for a small group tour that may have been true re our guide but most of the time there was a mass of people everywhere, so you had the feeling of being herded along. Difficult to hear our guide, radios not great (uncomfortable and hard to hear), Naomi was softly spoken and very crowded. I appreciate many people want to see the highlights of the Vatican, but the tour was stressful rather than an enjoyable experience overall.

Exactly what it promises

Did exactly what it promised. While the lines were not particularly crazy early in the morning, there is a fair amount of chaos with the huge number of group tours there, so it certainly simplified things and expedited our entry. Probably worthwhile just to help us navigate and get into the Vatican much faster than we would have otherwise.

Does exactly what it says

Does exactly what it says, skipped all lines and went straight through into the vatican. Make sure to find you’re check in point first, we made sure we knew where it was the day before so in the morning we had no worries about missing our time slot, once checked in the men will let you know what to do next and for us that was to wait outside and a tour guide took us up.

Did NOT Skip any Line! Don't waste your time and money!

This "Skip The line" tour is a scam. First, the address it gives to pick up tickets is an incorrect address, she stated "OH your ticket is Skip the Line, so you must go to this address around the corner." We proceeded to the correct address to wait in line for our tickets. We got there 30 minutes early, as suggested, and they gave us a shirt sticker. Thought this was our ticket, but it's not. We then waited outside in another line of 60 other customers for the 12:30 appointment. Then the guide walked us to thr Sistine Chapel, we waited in line for security. Then, we waited in a FOURTH line for the guide to wait in line and buy 60 tickets to pass out to us. All in all, we waited from 12pm until 1:30pm before we even got in. Total waste of time and money! It would've been better to just go ourselves, especially since we weren't doing a guided tour.

Worst experience ever!

Really a bad experience from the Viator guide. He left us outside and just walked away, so we had to pay €50 extra for the entrance fee. Worst customer experience I have seen!

Don’t waste your money on ticket only
Dana_L

I can’t speak to their actual tours, but the skip-the-line ticket only is a complete waste of time and money. You have to go find their business just to get your ticket, which makes sense, as it’s ticket only. But you’re paying double the price of entry for this service, which makes no sense. Certainly when we were there yesterday the STL made no difference, and it would have been much easier, and half the price, to just buy the tickets at the museum.

Get the Audio Recording

Our tour guide was a very pleasant young lady. Unfortunately, she had a quiet voice. This, combined with wearing a microphone on the outside of a FFP2 mask (pointing outwards!), meant that headset users heard more crowd noise than narration. Compound this with sometimes halting English and the attention of the party was soon lost. In addition, the speed of the tour was almost comical at times. En route, we frequently overtook other tour parties. Indeed, such was the speed or pace of the the tour that the party often got "strung out", meaning that headset commentary was either lost completely, or frustratingly related to items of interest that were in rooms yet to be reached by the majority of the party. We were aware that a lot had to be covered, but did not expect stretches to be done at almost jogging pace! In truth, it would have been better to have purchased the skip the line ticket without a guide and purchased the 8 Euro audio commentary on entry. The experience was disappointing as we have enjoyed other Viator guided tours.

Much more expensive than bying the ticket in line, (when we got there, there wasn’t even a line at all).

Very informative tour. Just a shame that had to pay extra 25€/person to have a guide. Overall, very good experience and I would recommend.

Save your time and buy a ticket directly from museum and avoid the skip the line ticket through Viator. The voucher sent by Viator requested you pick up a ticket prior to entry. When we arrived at the location listed it was closed and looked out of business. We had to call and they told us that we needed to go elsewhere. Mind you, this was during severe rain as well. We arrived at the new location 30 minutes prior as requested. The location was a run down, tiny location filled with people waiting to be taken to the Vatican. We waited nearly 50 minutes in this location until a guide took us to the entrance of the museum. However, he did not bring the tickets so we waited longer. We entered the same in trance as anyone else and there was no formal “skip the line” entrance. I am unclear what I received for the purchase of the access. We are asked in communication to arrive 25 minutes before our 930 entrance to the museum. We did not enter the museum until nearly 1030 AM. I would be suspect of any further purchases with Viator. I have done other guided tours, etc and this by far was the worst. Be aware.

Beware
DarcelAllen_A

Scammed into buying guided tour. No need, no lines, no rooms with lines, no rooms! Guide didn’t buy enough tickets caused skip the line quick access became a long stand around wait for the guide. Then he forgot headphones!

Good service with one minus

I would reccoment the "skip the line: vatican museum & sistine chapel tickets" without guide. All was organized well, we were tagged and guided to the museum where they validated our tickets. Then we were "set free" :) The reason i'm giving 4 stars is that 1 day prior to the reservation date i got a call telling me they cant provide me with tickets at the hour i booked - but only 2.5h later. I agreed cause it was the last day i could go visit Vatican, but it caused me to sightsee in a hurry i wouldnt have if i would go at the hour i booked. So that was a bit dissapointing.

We booked for a visit « with escort » to the Vatican, you can choice the time and the language BUT you don’t have any guide and you pay DOUBLE price for nothing. Don’t use this website and go to the museum website

Horrible !
Tracey_D
, Aug 2019
We bought the ticket-only option here. When we went to pick up our ticket, the guy told us we HAD to pay for a group pass in order to enter directly into the sistine chapel from the vatican, which we had no idea. So about 40 euros later, we are on a group tour, and lost the tour guide immediately. We have a baby so had to use the elevator, and we searched for them everywhere! We finally gave up after searching. We passed through to the sistine chapel no problem, NO ONE CHECKED OUR TICKET FROM THE VATICAN. We got scammed into paying more for this "special entrance". Buyers beware.... Viator we want a refund for the difference!!!

Eh....

I realistically know that "skip-the line" tickets usually have lines...but this one seemed longer than it should have been! Also, you go in with a representative from the company and it all seemed very disorganized and chaotic. Regarding the Vatican...all I will say is that you may want to rethink going during high season (June-August)...you WILL be standing shoulder to shoulder for much of the museum and we even had earlier tickets (8:30 am). This crowding, of course, is not the fault of this company...just a word to the wise!

A must!

I only waited about 10 minutes to enter the Vatican museum! Which was amazing considering the line wrapped around the building for people who didn’t purchase a skip the line ticket. I purchased this solo tour and separately purchased the audio at the museum entrance for just 10 euros. As I toured at my own pace through the Vatican museum and Sistine Chapel (I took about 6 hours) the line to enter St. Peter’s Basilica was short (about a 10-15 minute wait) so I didn’t purchase a fast pass (entrance is free so no additional charges). This is a great deal for those wanting to go at your pace and see everything!

Not sure if it was worth it. For the beginning Saturday morning the line to Vatican was not long (around 11am). When I went to the entrance I was told that I had to go to the meeting point - so read carefully where the meeting point is and go there first. I did not read and had to go and find it, which was a bit annoying. In the meeting point I had to wait until they book the tickets online, so they were not ready and only 1 person out of 3 was able to do that, so I had to wait like 15min. So you pay online for the reservation but not actual tickets. Same 15min would have gotten me inside the museum and I would have saved for a nice lunch. Paid 108eur for 3 people vs actual tickets price of 51eur which was bought while I was waiting in the meeting point. Next time I woudnt do it.

Expensive tickets

Expensive tickets . I bought 6 tickets for $240 while I could get it for $151 at tiqets.com. Also, you do not need to pay for skip the line as no line is afternoon.
