Had a wonderful afternoon walking through Portland downtown and listening to tales from a local. Appreciated all the beautiful murals and the history behind them. We also got to hear about the history of the city and nuggets about the architectural history. Would definitely do this again .

I am a native Oregonian. I love our city. It was really great to have another perspective and some more stories to go along with our history. Our guide was very enthusiastic and passionate about the love of our city and I appreciated that. She answered all the questions people had and had great stories to add. The tour did not give the overview of Portland, we were walking around just 1 block for 2 hours. The tour guide had a very strong political opinion that was quite offensive if you disagree with her point of view.

Marina, one thing we encounter when we discuss the history of a state like Oregon is a history both of radical activism and of decisions by state and local governments that we can, with a modern lens, see as harmful to both the land and the people that occupy it. Our introduction to Portland is an introduction to all of that: and when it comes to historical stories, certainly the choice of which stories to tell can feel political, but the stories themselves are not. I am sorry you are offended by our history; we are too, sometimes. Your tour did not circle one block for 2 hours. It is true that we start and end our tour at points that are about a block distant. It was about 1.5 miles, or about 2.5 kilometers.
