This was a fabulous tour package and a great plantation to visit! Loved the history that was shared and the meal was amazing!
Highlight of Charleston Vacation!
, Jul 2022
Everything was great! The manor tour was very interesting and informative (the movie The Patriot did an excellent job of recreating the manor house). Walking through the gardens was great, they are very beautiful, I only wish I had more time I would have brought a book to read by the water. The living history exhibits were awesome and very informative. All of the historians were very knowledgeable and professional; the cooper exhibit was particularly interesting. Lastly, the restaurant is AWESOME. Literally some of the best food in Charleston which sounds crazy but it’s true! I only wish we had more time because we could have spent another 2-3 hours there easily.
Not for the faint of heart.

We are 2 senior women who expected to find some transportation within the plantation grounds. Sadly there wasn’t any. I recommend it but, not for anyone who has trouble walking long distances in the blazing Sun.

Perfect tour to see what life was like on a plantation

Fantastic day on a genuine plantation and great food with the provided lunch. Wander the grounds, gardens, walk amongst the animals, and take in all the beauty of the place.

My wife and I just completed a 7 day visit to Charleston, during which we visited two plantations. Middleton and Magnolia. They both had their unique beauty, but if we had to choose only one it would probably be Middleton. In addition to the history associated with this plantation and the impressive geometrical gardens, the food in the restaurant alone was worth the trip. Their fried chicken is the best I've ever had anywhere.............including in Charleston's downtown with many restaurants famous for their fried chicken. The plantation itself is beautiful and there a volunteers walking around who are anxious to share additional information about the place's history. It is a trip worth taking, and the tour we took included transportation from the Visitor's center in an air conditioned van with a city certified tour guide driver who also provided us with fascinating stories about what we going to see. Glad we took this tour!

A Real Experience of American History

Our driver provided excellent commentary on the history and importance of the Middleton family and this property in America’s history. Had plenty of time to explore and enjoyed a great lunch. One of the best excursions we have done.

The timing of everything was great; time to explore the grounds on your own, lunch, and timing of the departure.

Well worth the short bus ride

Just a lovely day to spend. Great tour, food, and location. History for sure. First time at a plantation and glad to take the tour.
Worth a visit
, Apr 2022
Lovely visit. Perfect amount of time to see everything, have lunch, and stop in the gift shop. Our driver was personable and knowledgeable. We had expected a guided tour, but it was self-guided for the most part with a brochure except for a short introduction to the family upon arrival. The family/foundation has done a lot of research on the slaves who kept the plantation running and have a nice display in Eliza's House. Timing would have been better to have visited in late March as the azaleas and camellias were no longer blooming, and there were few other flowers. The aerial picture is much better to see the amazing landscaping, but the paths and gardens are enjoyable. Highlight was seeing the baby lambs.
A Treasure of the low country!
, Apr 2022
From the moment we entered, a feeling of peace and serenity enveloped us. The majestic live oaks are certainly to be treasured. Lunch was a flavorful representation of low country cuisine. The docents were knowledgeable and personable. The research done to acknowledge the contributions of the slaves was impressive. Middleton was a wonderful experience!
Riches to rags

Beautiful Middleton Place Grounds
, Jan 2022
This was a very good tour. The food at Middle Place restaurant was delicious. I got the shrimp & grits. The grounds are beautiful. We had a small group tour of the main house. It was also nice to be able to explore the grounds on my own. However, I do have 2 recommendations. My first one would be that the tour bus driver accompany the group to the restaurant (if this is a tour with lunch). It was a little confusing on which way to go. Most of us went the wrong way. My second recommendation would be that the whole group sit together. This way we could get to know each other a little bit. The staff at the restaurant was a disorganized. We had to wait to be seated. I understand that you have to wait to be seated, but if we are in the group from Pineapple Tours and tell them that, they should be prepared. They ran out of silverware so we had to use plastic utensils until, they got more silverware. Overall, this is a very good tour. The bus driver was on time.
